DESCRIPTION:We are a group of parents of young adults and teens who are struggling with life. Examples of such difficulties might be: isolation\, social difficulties\, school avoidance\, school failure or other learning differences\, vocational struggles\, inhibitions around launching and independence or strained relations with friends and family. Many struggle with mental illness\, learning disabilities\, Asperger’s\, substance abuse or autism. Some are undiagnosed\, just not living up to society’s expectations. \n\n\nWe meet once a month and support and encourage one another as we look at strategies for helping our young adults. We understand the journey\, which has many twists and turns\, often not what we expected when thinking about raising a child. We laugh\, cry\, share resources\, and support one another. Occasionally\, we have speakers join us and supplement our knowledge of resources available\, including housing options\, legal remedies\, new medications or treatments\, etc. \n\nThe group meets monthly and is open to anyone interested. DESCRIPTION:Join the Temple Sinai Brotherhood Book Club at the temple for a discussion of The Genius of Israel: The Surprising Resilience of a Divided Nation in a Turbulent World by Dan Senor and Saul Singer. It’s about how “a small nation of 9 million people\, forced to fight for its existence and security since its founding and (d)riven by ethnic\, religious\, and economic divides\, (proves) resistant to so many of the societal ills plaguing other wealthy democracies.” \nThis book was written before October 7\, 2023\, but released shortly afterward\, so its perspective is not shaped by events since then\, and it may be dated. Either way\, the book should serve as a catalyst for a lively (yet amiable) discussion. Both the Montgomery County Libraries and the DC Libraries have copies available. SUMMARY:YAWS Meeting
DESCRIPTION:We are a group of parents of young adults and teens who are struggling with life. Examples of such difficulties might be: isolation\, social difficulties\, school avoidance\, school failure or other learning differences\, vocational struggles\, inhibitions around launching and independence or strained relations with friends and family. Many struggle with mental illness\, learning disabilities\, Asperger’s\, substance abuse or autism. Some are undiagnosed\, just not living up to society’s expectations. \n\n\nWe meet once a month and support and encourage one another as we look at strategies for helping our young adults. We understand the journey\, which has many twists and turns\, often not what we expected when thinking about raising a child. We laugh\, cry\, share resources\, and support one another. Occasionally\, we have speakers join us and supplement our knowledge of resources available\, including housing options\, legal remedies\, new medications or treatments\, etc. \n\nThe group meets monthly and is open to anyone interested. SUMMARY:TSMRJ Topgolf Outing
DESCRIPTION:Topgolf\, in Germantown\, is a sports entertainment complex that features an inclusive\, high-tech golf game (driving range).  As we have done for the last few years\, TSMRJ will secure two adjoining bays (or more\, if the demand is there) where we can hit some balls\, play a few games\, and enjoy food\, drink\, and each other’s company. We welcome all skill levels\, including novices. While you are free to bring your own clubs\, most folks use the clubs provided at no extra charge by Topgolf. \nLet Bob Loesche know if you plan to be there. This event is open to all congregants\, friends\, and family members who would like to join in. Cost for the event is $20/person (payable via Zelle to Bob or in cash when you arrive at Topgolf).  The Brotherhood will absorb all the other costs associated with the event—including golf\, food\, and beverages.

DESCRIPTION:Food For All (FFA) is one of the few programs in Washington\, DC that deliver groceries to homebound individuals citywide.  FFA also distributes bagged lunches to unhoused DC residents each Friday.
