Drawing on more than 35 years of hands-on work with children and families\, Claire will: \n\nDescribe the key traits and challenges of highly sensitive kids\nReveal the process—the “detective work”—she guides parents through to understand the root cause of their child’s challenges and to come up with sensitive\, effective strategies that work in real life\, not just in theory.\nProvide a reality-based roadmap for how parents and other caregivers can find solutions to their unique experiences with their extraordinary kids that take into consideration that every child and family is different\, and that there is not a one-size-fits-all approach.\n\nThe session will include ample time for Q&A. \nRSVP here \nExcerpts from the book can be found here. \n  \nAbout Claire Lerner\nClaire is a nationally recognized child development and parenting expert with more than three decades of experience in education and direct practice. Claire partners with parents to decode their children’s behavior and solve their most vexing childrearing challenges. She also trains pediatric residents in child development and parenting\, and provides mental health consultation at DC area preschools. In addition to her clinical work with families\, Claire led the parenting division of Zero to Three for nearly 20 years\, translating the science of early childhood for parents. Claire is the author of hundreds of parenting resources\, including blogs\, podcasts\, videos.

Additional donations are welcome and a zero-cost option is available if this is more appropriate for your family. \n\nThe Davis Center for Social Justice at Temple Sinai is collecting items to make kids’ activity packs for Ayuda\, who provides legal\, social\, and language services to help low-income immigrants in our area. \nPlease sign up to contribute items to this project.  There will be a collection bin in the member lounge area from June 1 – June 15.  Please sign up only if you are able to deliver your items within this timeframe. If you are ordering online and want to ship your items directly to Temple Sinai\, please send them Attn: Jenny Cohen. They must arrive by Monday\, June 16. \nWe will be packing the kits as the family activity during this month’s Family Shabbat. You can also sign up to deliver the packs to Ayuda the week of June 23. If instead of purchasing items\, you’d like to make a financial contribution\, you can donate to Temple Sinai’s Refugee & Migrant fund here (please indicate “Ayuda” on the payment notes line).
