DESCRIPTION:Join us for a discussion of The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store: A Novel by James McBride. (Note: This is instead of the previously announced selection\, The Commitments by Roddy Doyle\, which was not easily available.)  The story is a murder mystery set in a dilapidated western Pennsylvanian community inhabited by Jewish immigrants and African Americans\, both “(struggling) to survive at the margins of white Christian America and how damaging bigotry\, hypocrisy\, and deceit can be to a community.”   The DC and Montgomery County library systems have multiple copies of the book in various formats.  For more information\, contact Howard Oppenheim.
