As always\, Gavron charts a path between styles and genres\, between realism and satire\, between being earnest and wildly funny. Gavron wrote parts of The Hilltop in a cabin in a settlement in the West Bank.

It’s about how “a small nation of 9 million people\, forced to fight for its existence and security since its founding and (d)riven by ethnic\, religious\, and economic divides\, (proves) resistant to so many of the societal ills plaguing other wealthy democracies.” \nThis book was written before October 7\, 2023\, but released shortly afterward\, so its perspective is not shaped by events since then\, and it may be dated. Either way\, the book should serve as a catalyst for a lively (yet amiable) discussion. Both the Montgomery County Libraries and the DC Libraries have copies available.
