Shabbat Service & Dinner with Guest Scholar Sarah Hurwitz

March 20 @ 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Hybrid Event

Reclaiming the Jewish Story From Those Who Blame, Shame, and Try to Erase Us
Join us for Shabbat with author and former White House speechwriter Sarah Hurwitz. Her new book, As a Jew: Reclaiming Our Story from Those Who Blame, Shame, and Try to Erase Us, is an urgent exploration of how antisemitism has shaped Jewish identity and how Jews can reclaim their tradition. She is also the author of Here All Along: Finding Meaning, Spirituality, and a Deeper Connection to Life–in Judaism (After Finally Choosing to Look There).

No registration is required for the Shabbat Service at 6:30 pm, but please register for the dinner that will follow and an opportunity to hear from Sarah about what it means to be Jewish during a time of rising antisemitism and how Jews can live proudly, boldly, and joyfully.

This program is supported by the Rabbi Mindy Portnoy Adult Education Fund in memory of Temple Sinai Rabbi Emerita, Mindy Portnoy.

The Rabbi Mindy Portnoy Adult Education Fund was established by a resolution of the Temple Sinai Board of Trustees to memorialize the impact Rabbi Portnoy had on the Temple Sinai community and her legacy of continuing Jewish education for adults. The fund focuses on providing financial support for educational programming primarily targeted members above the age of 18. This evening’s program was made possible thanks to the generosity of Portnoy Fund donors–if you would like to support additional programs such as this, please consider making a donation to the Portnoy Fund online or by mailing a donation to Temple Sinai.
